When you check an extension (in my case the Slack extension) it will be great to have a “Send a test” button to check if it’s we’ll configured: webhook sent, received and in the right destination (the right channel in the case of a Slack extension).
Currently we have to create a dummy incident. It means useless notification(s) to the oncall people (noise), incident’s data used on service KPI (count, MTTR, …), and so on.
Examples:
- Google Cloud Monitoring alerting channels “test connection” feature
- Stripe: send test event
